Agency Name Search

The Agency Name Search permits you to locate programs operated by a particular agency or entity by entering all or part of the name of the agency in the Find box.  The system will return all the records containing the word or phrase that you enter regardless of where your search string appears in the Agency Name. For example a search on health may return the Jefferson County Health Department, Health Services, Inc., and Norton Healthcare. This allows you to find an agency without knowing exactly how the entity was entered in the system.

Keep in mind that many "agencies" are in fact programs or another entity, may be collaborative in nature or may be hosted by an entity other than the one primarily identified with the program (and therefore listed as part of a different Agency than you may expect).  For example a youth services program may be listed under the sponsoring entities record, under the school at which services are delivered or under the name of a third entity that collaborates with the school and the sponsor to operate the program.

Tech Notes: Permissible entries in the Find box for Agency Name Search include a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and the characters space, hyphen, comma, period, stroke and parentheses and stroke.  Entries must be at least 4 characters in length.  Complex searches are not permitted (e.g., 'american NOT americana', 'elder + senior + mature').   Maximum search string length is 30 characters.  All searches are case insensitive.  When you first open Agency Name Search the system will display all Agency Names for casual browsing.  Once you launch a search this list will reflect the results.

Frequently Asked Questions

When I print a program record from my browser the right side of the record is cut off.  What can I do to get the entire record on one page?

If you have access to tech support, ask the technician if your printer/software can be configured to scale print jobs to a single page on your printer.  If not, go the the Page Setup screen in your browser and click Landscape for the page orientation.

Who operates this system?

This system is operated by the Community Resource Network in cooperation with Info Link of Southern Indiana, the Louisville Free Public Library, Norton HealthCare, KIPDA, Metro United Way, Seven Counties Services, Jefferson County Public Schools, Jefferson County Government, and the City of Louisville.

What is included in the database?

Generally speaking we include public (government) and non-profit health and human service programs and providers.  We generally do not include private practitioners or for-profits.  Neither do we include PACs or entities engaged in fundraising for distribution elsewhere - services must be available to residents of Kentucky or Indiana.  Mutual Support Groups must be in continuous operation for 3 years to be included.  For more details contact the CRN or Info Link.

How often is it updated?

Resource maintenance is a daily task at the CRN and Info Link.  Updates to the web site are made approximately every 45 days.   Additional updates may be scheduled whenever the staff feel important changes have been made and time permits.

Is this information copyrighted? May I publish the information I find here?

The information contained in this site is Copyright (c) 1992-2003 by the CRN and Info Link.  If you are engaged in health and human services work you may print up to 10 resource records for distribution to a client and their family.  If you are working with committees or completing a grant application you may reproduce up to 30 programs records for that purpose.  You may NOT use the information contained here to produce general publications, newsletters or specialized service directories without the written permission of the CRN.   Contact us with details of your needs for additional information.

Can I suggest a new program or resource?

Definitely.  Leave your full name, address and phone in the Submit Changes form and request Agency and Program submission forms.

I have trouble using the site from some computers.  What is wrong?

For best results you need Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 4.01 or newer and a video system set to 800x600 screen resolution.  Make sure the system you are using has the correct firewall and proxy configuration.  And keep in mind that some corporate environments block a variety of Internet browser functions as a security measure.

If I print resources out and give them to my clients am I violating the copyright?

As long as you do not charge your clients for the information  - or the cost of printing it - you may print up to 6 records for distribution to a client and their family members.  Non-profits may also print and distribute up to 12 records for distribution to and use by volunteers and committees.  Contact us if you need permission to use the data for other purposes or in greater quantity.  In most cases we will grant a license at no charge as long as the project is not-for-profit and benefits those in need.

Can I obtain this information on disk?

Yes.  Info Link of Southern Indiana offers the information found here in an easy to use software package called Directory On A Disk.  Contact them for details.

Is there a printed directory?

Yes.  The CRN produces a printed directory called the Guide to Community Services every 2 years.  Contact us for pricing and availability.

Where can I find agency and program mailing lists?

The CRN posts downloadable mailing lists on its web site.  These may be used by non-profit and governmental entities only.   They may not be used for mass marketing or the solicitation of funds.  Click the link to visit the Lists, Labels & Maps section of our main web site.
